Meet Me

I purchased a little notebook ages ago because it was one of my favorite colors, it was pleather and it matched this really cute planner I got from Erin Condren (which is an AWESOME planner! I will have to do a full review on it soon!)

Anyways, I knew one day I would eventually find a use for it. And today I did. I was looking for something to jot down ideas for blogs and I spotted the notebook. It now has a purpose. One of the first things I wrote down was to update the About Me section. You know that area under my photo with just some tidbits of information about who I am. So I started a list. That grew. And grew. That's when I decided I should probably just do an About Me post which as I started writing it turned into an 'Things you didn't know about me' post. Either way, shall we get on with it?

I am a full time student...still. I went to college back in 19?! at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. I can't believe I still remember how to spell Nacogdoches without googling it. (I googled it just for good measure and yep. I was right) I lasted a whole semester and a half, barely passing the classes that I even bothered going to. I got bitten by the love bug and that was far more interesting than school. Turns out not so much but it began my journey into motherhood. My family grew and I found myself and my soldier husband in Texas but this time at Fort Hood. Since my husband was often deployed (five times so far) we decided I would stay at home and raise my kiddos so they had a little stability and a parent at all times. Twelve years later my youngest started school and I figured it was time for me to return to school. I enrolled in classes at Central Texas College and off I went. We moved from Texas to Washington and I transferred to Tacoma Community College. I graduated with my associates degree in May of 2013 and started at Saint Martin's University that fall. After three years at Joint Base Lewis McChord it was time to pick up our little family and move again. This time to Fort Riley, Kansas. I'll finish the spring semester at SMU with my last online course and I have officially enrolled for classes in the fall at Kansas State University where I hope to be able to finish my dual degree which is a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Math-Ed before we have to move again. Are you listening Mr Army? Please let us stay here so I can finally finish school!! For now, I am a Wildcat.

I have an obsession with makeup. I'm not kidding. I have quite the collection going. I enjoy reading beauty blogs, watch beauty you-tubers and vlogs. I have two girls. They've already followed in my footsteps. It's fascinating to watch them grow into it. I'm sure you'll be seeing lots of beauty related things here. I just can't help myself!

I kill internet dragons...really. About eight years ago I started playing World of Warcraft. I still play it and Guild Wars 2 with a few other games thrown in the mix. Some of my closest friends AND my best friend I wouldn't have met if I had never played those games. It's my thing. The kids have their Xbox 360, the hubs has his PS3 and me? I have my fireballs and lightning bolts. Don't judge.

I love pizza. I know. Everyone loves pizza. But I looooooooooooove pizza. I have my entire life. I like a good Mexican dish and even the occasional Chinese food and always a good ole' hamburger. I'm pretty sure though I could eat pizza every day of the week. I make a mean breakfast pizza too. Much to my delight I have found a fantastic New York style pizza joint named AJ's NY Pizzeria in Manhattan which is also where the K State main campus is. We stopped in for a quick bite and literally that's all it took. One bite and I was hooked. It really is a little slice of heaven.

I can't keep gift secrets. It's impossible. Props to those people who can do Christmas shopping in like April and hold those gifts until December. I can't do it. Can. Not. Do. It. If I buy it in April, I might hold onto it for like a week. Then...Merry Christmas to you!

I love Survivor and Big Brother. I have watched it for thirteen years. I can not tell you who won every time. I am not an obsessive fan but I enjoy it enough to watch it every time it comes on. Currently my favorite shows are Vampire Diaries, the Originals, Pretty Little Liars, Homeland, True Blood, the Following, Bate's Motel and recently Orange is the New Black. Favorite shows of all time? Friends, Sex and the City and Charmed.

I love to read. I'm currently reading a Nora Roberts book and listening to The Fault in our Stars on Audible (which is my new obsession). I can 'read' while I'm cooking or cleaning or driving down the road. Why I never did this before I'll never know. It is the greatest invention ever and I love that it is connected to Amazon where I am a prime student member. My favorite books off all time? The Harry Potter series of course! It's timeless. I also enjoyed The Hunger Games and I just recently finished the Divergent Trilogy. I don't only read young adult fiction though. I am a big fan of Fifty Shades of Grey. Yes. I said it. Now it's out there. I am super excited for February 2015 and the movie.

That's just a little snippet of my life and what I enjoy. How about you? Good book recommendations? I am always looking for them so if you have any to share that would be fantastic! Now I'm off to watch some youtube videos and maybe kill some internet dragons.

Laters baby.

The First One

I started blogging years ago. It lasted a month. I can't remember what I wrote about but I decided to stop writing because I had two readers and nothing really to talk about. I'm pretty sure that I deleted that blog or it "disappeared" into internet oblivion. A year or so later my new obsession was digital scrap-booking. I made a new blog and posted some of the kits I created. I even sold a few. I lost interest again after a few months and deleted it. I learned a few things from those failed attempts at blogging.

1. I wasn't ready for the commitment. I had no idea how much work keeping a blog was. I'm pretty sure I spent more hours trying to set my page up and design it than I actually did blogging.

2. I was quite boring back then. I really had nothing to talk about because I didn't DO anything. I was a mom, a wife and a computer gamer. That's it. I didn't go out. I didn't buy things. I don't even think I was back in college yet. My life bored me. I knew it wasn't going to entertain anyone else.

3. I suck at being creative. Sure I did manage to make some pocket change selling digital scrap-booking supplies. I might could have made a small side income. If I had stuck with it. Which leads me to 4.

4. I have the attention span of...how does one finish that sentence? Rephrase. I have a very small attention span. When I get interested in something I go out it full force. I give 110% of my time and effort. Which usually leads to burn out and finding the delete blog button.

So what is different this time? Well life has went on and I'm older, wiser and my interests have changed. Unfortunately, those 4 things up there...still apply. But my hope this time is to change all of that. I'm going to write about things I enjoy and hope that you enjoy them with me. It will be random musings, daily life ramblings, shopping trips, school work despair, books, reviewing my new beauty favorites, playlists, frustrations, triumphs, joys and family milestones. It will be more things that I don't even know right now but it will be mine. My piece of the world wide web. And I think that's pretty cool.
